Low lighting - Is an application using a darker color on pieces of hair that has been sliced through with a fine tooth comb and folded in foil. Lowlights are especially good for hair that has been highlighted with blonde too many times. Adding some dark blonde, light brown or even dark brown can really revive worn looking highlights. Sometimes it is done under silver hair to enhance the beauty of silver-gray hair.
In general, salon hair colors contain higher-quality ingredients than the drugstore brands. Salons also offer a wider variety of colors and tones. But home coloring kits are getting better all the time and can deliver good results if used properly. When choosing a hair color, your skin tone and natural hair color are the two most important factors. Whether you're going lighter or darker, stay within two or three shades of your natural hair color.
If the hair color used was a light to medium shade, you may be able to cover it with a semi-permanent hair color after a few days. If you used a very dark shade, then it's very difficult to remove hair color and you might as well live with it. Dark hair colors are hard to correct because the pigments in the dye are very strong. If your hair has been colored a shade of green, you could try a chlorine removal shampoo, or, if all else fails, tomato juice soak.
Once a basic color is determined, now comes the fun and creative part. She may suggest adding lighter highlights around your face and maybe even dispersed throughout your hair. Lighter color near your face can change your entire appearance without the permanent commitment of an all over change.Once your new color is processed, you can now bring it a step further with temporary additions for one special occasion. Sparkles are a big hit this season and they can be applied by anyone who has ever put on mascara - the brushes are identical.
Hair rinses linger a bit longer than colored shampoos but still wash out easily. This is an option to choose if you are looking more to blend your greys than cover them. Hair rinse will bleed if they get wet so be careful, you may also want to cover hair to protect pillow casings and sheets. Rinses will wash out while shampooing hair. Some brands may take more than one wash but it will start to fade from the first one. Apply after shampooing; you may need to sit under a dryer with a steam cap.
Hot Oil treatments, hairspray, shampooing and exposure to water will gradually fade hair dye. To remove the last bit of residue or stain on the hair (or to get color out immediately) make up a small batch of bleach mixture and add it to 2 tablespoons or so of shampoo in a cup. Stir it up. Shampoo your hair with this mixture, "kneading" the hair. Start at the roots and work your way down to the end, and then back up.You should see the color disappear right before your eyes.
