If one is curious enough, one should be willing to scratch beneath the surface of anything. For one, some of the answers to some of the pressing questions maybe found with a little polishing of what is in our hands. In the main act of life, one of the things—and a joyous one at that—hat can happen to a woman’s life is pregnancy. However, before the revelry begins for just being pregnant, one must learn to examine the correct and healthy food choices during pregnancy.

Beneficial Foods During Pregnancy

The following are some of the necessary nutrients and foods that a pregnant woman must take to make sure that one will have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.

1)If a woman’s pregnancy is already onto the last trimester, it is recommended that a woman must increase her calorie intake by at least 200 kilocalories per day. This is important in order to keep a woman filled with energy especially during the critical moments of labor. While energy can be obtained from sweet foods such as chocolate, it is generally recommended that a woman do not take too much chocolate in order to avoid having the mother and the baby’s blood sugar too high that can cause complications. Rather, the most desired source of energy are foods rich in carbohydrates.

2)One must also increase the intake of protein. This is to make sure that there is enough body mass for the woman in the course of pregnancy. The best sources of protein are meat and fish, although this can be well supplemented by vegetable consumption.

3)While it is recommended that a pregnant woman need not drastically increase the amount of calcium intake, it is also important to make sure that one is not deprived of calcium. Calcium is vital in the strength of the bones as well as in the body formation of the baby. The best sources of calcium are milk and cheese.

4)Vitamin C is another critical nutrient for a pregnant woman. This is needed in order not to deprive essential nutrients inside a woman’s body. When pregnant, there is a need to increase the intake of vitamin C by at least 120 milligrams per day. The best source of calcium is citrus foods such as lemons, guava, and papaya. In any case, the nutrient can be easily obtained from most fruits and vegetables, so as long as a woman keeps on munching fresh fruits and vegetables, the chances are she will not be deprived of the nutrient.

5)Another critical nutrient is vitamin D. this nutrient can also be obtained from fruits and some meat products, but undeniably, the best source of vitamin D is fresh sunshine. Hence, doctors commonly suggest that a woman does light walks every morning in order to have sufficient vitamin D for her body and also to keep her immune system strong.

6)Iron is also another critical nutrient during pregnancy. One may obtain the nutrient from milk and meat.
