Tom Welling, lead actor on the series Smallville, is bound to star in a remake of the movie Teen Wolf. This is actually his way of productively spending his time off from Smallville.
The said film, which was originally led by actor Michael J. Fox, showcases a high school student who discovers that his family has an odd heritage and eventually finds himself transforming into a werewolf. Released in 1985, the movie was directed by Rod Daniel, and was co-written by Jeph Loeb and Matthew Weisman. As for Welling’s upcoming movie, his version will be featuring a teenage girl as the werewolf. Given this, many speculate that Welling’s role would just be secondary.
Welling, a 29-year old native of New York graduated from Okemos High School.
He is popularly known for his role as Clark Kent on the sci-fi series Smallville. This male fashion model turned actor also appeared in a number of commercials and music videos.
The last time Welling graced the silver screen was in the film The Fog where he played Nick Castle, which was released in 2005, which is coincidentally a remake as well. His attempt to make it big in his last film was shattered since The Fog was significantly fell short of the original creation of John Carpenter. In addition, it raved many poor reviews from critics and movie fans, citing predictable plot, poor acting and lack of horror. Apart from The Fog, he also worked in the movie Cheaper by the Dozen and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 as Charlie Baker. This, on the other hand, garnered better reviewers compared to his most recent.
For sure, avid fans of Tom Welling look forward to a more fruitful and successful blockbuster. Hopefully, there might be one in the future. But for now, let’s just hope that his second remake would surpass his first.
