Are you afraid on STD? This is really serious and big word for everybody. Sexually transmitted disease is a threat for mankind as it can give infections like genital herpes. Genital herpes can occur in both male and female, adults, young adults and teenagers as long as you are sexually active.
A lot of people are introverted when it comes to sexual conversation. I love talking to my girl friends regarding on their experiences which literally opens the conversation for some serious talks. I heard a lot of concerns and questions especially from women who are worrying for some little thing that they noticed as they are active on sex. So what is STD? What about the virus and infection that we might get from having sexual intercourse?
Sexually Transmitted Disease or STD or sometimes referred as sexually transmitted infections has been around for thousand of years. The most dangerous condition of these infection is human immunodeficiency virus or HIV which been recognized in recent decades. These diseases can spread through sexual activities and not just sexual intercourse which includes kissing, oral-genital contact, and the use of sexual "toys," such as vibrators.
Genital herpes is considered as a viral infection by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) that is transmitted through intimate contact. Most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. When signs do occur, they typically appear as one or more blisters on or around the genitals or rectum. This infection is most common in women (approximately one out of four women) than in men (almost one out of eight). This may due to male-to-female transmission being more likely than female-to-male transmission.
Around 50 million persons in the United States are infected with genital herpes. Experts believed that 60% of sexually active adults carry the herpes virus. Women who are infected do not know that they are infected as mild itching or minimal discomfort is the only symptoms. Moreover, the longer the woman has had the virus, the fewer the symptoms they have with their outbreaks. Lastly, the virus can shed from the cervix into the vagina in women who are not experiencing any symptom.
Recurrent genital herpes infections are milder than the primary infection. Most people who have a recurrent HSV infection have burning, tingling, or pain in the area of the outbreak up to 24 hours before any visible time. A recurrence of genital herpes typically occurs spontaneously, and it can be triggered by conditions such as fever or illness, sun exposure, hormonal changes like due to menstruation and pregnancy, stress, trauma, surgery, friction to the area like with sexual intercourse or tight-fitting clothes. In addition, genital herpes can lead to potentially fatal infections in babies and may play a role in the spread of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.
Here is the glimpse of facts regarding HSV infections and STD’s.
