Hair removal describes method of removing hair, especially from the human body. There are many options available to remove unwanted hair, but few options to get rid of hair permanently. Hair removal methods are temporary (shaving, mechanical epilators, depilatories, tweezing, and waxing). Hair removal can be achieved through depilation (removing part of the hair above the skin's surface) or epilation (removing the entire hair). For many consumers, temporary methods at regular intervals are acceptable. Another common hair removal method is plucking, or tweezing, the hair. Shaving is a temporary hair removal method. It is inexpensive, but for most people the hair has started to grow back by the following day.

Very few people who can bear the pain will choose to go for this hair removal method, which is, waxing. Wax is applied along with a strip of cloth on the area where there is hair and is then peeled off once the wax is cooled. This also yanks out the hair from the follicle root and all. Pain factor is 8.Go for this method only if you are certain that you can withstand pain. No matter what anyone tells you this one method does pack a sting. There are all sorts of reasons why people want to eliminate unwanted hair. It could be a question of looks, of self esteem or of tradition (religious or cultural). It may simply be a question of wanting a change; after all unless you apply a permanent hair removal method, it will grow back.

If we talk about the first hair removal method introduced to the mankind, it is Shaving. It is the basic and the easiest method available today since its invention. Anyone can do it at home and it simply involves the use of a razor with a blade and a shaving cream or gel. Both men and women have used it since years. Men use it to shave their face whereas women need it to remove hairs from their body. From the traditional plucking and shaving to professional electrolysis and laser treatment, procedures will certainly vary and it will be up to you what to choose in terms of an effective method with long term results. Several hair removal procedures offer permanent solution to get rid of body hairs to achieve a flawless skin.

Small areas of hair are most often removed with creams, lotions, or razors. Larger areas of hair (such as on the back) are most often removed medically with laser therapy, or waxing, due to the awkwardness of removing the hair by yourself. For longer lasting results, it is best to use hair removal methods that remove hair from the root. These results can usually last four to six weeks, as opposed to other methods that may only last for a few days.

Laser. This is a newer method than electrolysis, but has become very popular and there are now various types of laser technology being applied. In simple terms a beam of light is targeted at the melanin (a substance in the skin and hair that gives it its color) it heats and thereby eliminates the hair follicle without affecting the surrounding skin.
