Sunlight is considered to be more of a healer than a hazard! We know that lack of sunlight can cause multiple deficiencies, be it a slow production of Vitamin D in the body or a restrained metabolic rate. Not only does the normal sunlight can do wonders but studies have shown that different intensities of light can trigger ''magical'' enzymatic reactions! Most of us don't even know, but if you were one of those new born babies affected with jaundice, you'd probably been placed in a blue light healing incubator! Light therapy, knowingly or not, has us all influenced with its blissful existence.
An illustration to the ending statement in the paragraph above would be the research results explored by the American Geriatrics Society wanting to find out the ''effect of low power light therapy on pain and disability in elderly patients with degenerative osteoarthritis of the knee.'' Tests were carried out on 2 of the 3 groups of patients suffering from an even intensity of the disease. One of the groups was treated with infrared light, the other with red light and the third group was left untreated. Results showed that the groups receiving light therapy were 50% relieved of the pain they''d been experiencing earlier on1. This experiment hence adds into light keeping up with the wellness of human body and mind.
To add in to the list, light therapy has had positive results on human skin as well. For those concerned with drug free treatments for acne, for example, blue and red light therapy has paved out new approaches to this persisting skin problem. With a controlled amount of these light intensities projected onto the affected area, the former subside the bacterial growth within hence aiding in to a sustained yet retreating disease! Despite that, light therapy can also make you look younger again! Surprised? Don't be! The special skin rejuvenating lights can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles leaving your skin looking and feeling younger and healthier.
Moving on, not only does light therapy supplement core medical treatments but it helps in enhancing your mind's well being too. If you're one of those who tend to experience a seasonal depression or usually feel low during winters, gain weight or suffer from an interrupted sleep and irritability each fall or winter, you might want yourself to get a light therapy treatment to get back on track! Seasonal Affective Disorder or non-seasonal depression, early morning or night owl insomnia or even temporary jet lags, light therapy has the tendency to cure them all!
Though light therapy has its unlimited benefits, special care should be taken while dealing with light therapy products. In order to avoid sun burn or UV light extremities, proper filtering should be maintained and observed for effective results.
