You just had a party and your carpet is a mess! No matter how you look at it, you cannot seem to figure out ways on how to deal with the dirt and stains. So as you give up, you find yourself scanning the directory and looking for a carpet cleaning company who can take care of the job for you.
After calling up a few people, you finally got an appointment with a company who seems to know their trade well. After a few days, they arrive perfectly as scheduled. So far you are impressed with their professionalism. But since this is technically your first time to hire someone to clean your carpet for you, you are absolutely clueless on what they will do.
So to help you out, here are the things that you can expect from a professional carpet cleaning company.
- Upon arrival, the serviceman should introduce himself and provide some identification to prove that they come from the company you hired. After that, you may need to walk with the serviceman to check the carpet and inspect the spots that need thorough cleaning.
During this stage, he may point out some stains that he may not be able to remove and discuss how he plans to tackle those that he can. If you have qualms about the process, this is the best time to ask him questions or voice out your worries.
-
After getting a go from you, the serviceman will then work on moving appliances and furniture to get to areas under them. Be aware that if the pieces of furniture are too heavy to move manually, they may use other equipment and charge you custom labor for that. But know that no charges should be made prior to discussing them to you.
-
After moving, the cleaning process officially starts. Here is a breakdown on how most carpet cleaning companies go about their business.
a. Pre - vacuuming of dry soil and debris
b. Spraying of conditioning agent or pre - spotting agents that can help break down stains/ dirt thoroughly
c. Agitation of spotted/ pre - conditioned carpet. This is usually done with the use of a powered rotary brush.
d. Rinsing. Rinsing is not as simple as wetting the carpet until you get the soap out of them. A powerful machine is usually used to apply adequate water for rinsing and suck it out again to make sure that the carpet does not get over wet.
e. Application of neutralizer - an agent that keeps your carpet from having a sticky feel.
f. Application of carpet protector that helps keep your carpet clean for a longer period of time. A carpet groomer may be used for even application of the protector.
g. Drying which is also done with a use of a high - velocity air movers to dry out the carpet as soon as possible
-
When the cleaning process is done, appliances and/ or furniture are moved back into place and another walk through is done to check if you are satisfied with the work he performed.
-
Lastly, papers are signed and the serviceman should leave you a number that you can call for customer service concerns.
That is a basic idea on what will happen during your appointment with them. Note that these may change a bit, depending on the area and the kind of stain they need to work on.
