Most of the successful websites and blogs rely on returning visitors which account for a major part of their traffic. Visitors whom keep on returning are easier to convert into paying customers because they develop a trust in that site and the credibility issue just melts away. So to keep your visitors coming back to your site I have outline 5 methods you can implement on your site.

  1. Start a forum, chatroom, shoutbox or your own social network

It is not that difficult at all to start a forum, chatroom, shoutbox or even get more daring and start your own social network. You will be providing your visitors a place to voice their opinions, maybe allow them to advertise their opportunities or products and they can then also interact with their peers. Just be careful that you do not turn it into too overactive ad site as this may deter some visitors you can screen the ads you would like to appear and they may even compliment your own business. As the conversations build a sense of community will also follow and your visitors will come back to your site on a daily basis.

  1. Start a web log (blog)

Another nifty idea would be to keep an online journal, or blog on your site and keep it updated with latest news about yourself. People are very curious creatures and they will log in daily to monitor if you you have posted fresh news. You have to build credibility and not use the blog as your private advertising blog. Keep your blog about yourself and what has happened to you personally, your experiences, trials and tribulations. This will prove to your readers that you are a real person behind the website. So make sure to post fresh news frequenly.

  1. Carry out polls or surveys

Another quick way to get your visitors to voice their opinions and to get involved with your website is to add polls or surveys. Ask your visitors what they want to read, hear and see. But you have to make sure that the surveys are relevant to the target market of your website to keep your visitors interested in find out what the results were. Try and keep the polls or surveys whichever medium you choose shorthish and not too long otherwise you may loose a couple of visitors if they have to wade through page after page after page you get the idea.

  1. Hold puzzles, quizzes and games

Can you remember or do you know the feeling sitting at the office, you are not very busy and are bored to surf from website to website. Why not add some puzzles, quizzes or even games to your site which could become an addicting way of entertainment to your visitor. You could also hold competitions and award the high score winner with a free e-book or report and keep people trying to continuously earn a prize.

  1. Update frequently with fresh content

Frequently update your site with fresh content and news so that every time your visitors come back they will have something new and interesting to read on your site. This is a very effective method of attracting returning visitors but it is also the least carried out by lazy marketers. Some marketers think that to keep their website's format the same for the next 10 years would be welcomed by returning visitors, well it won't! Nobody would want to browse a site that looks the same day in and day out year and in and year out it is simply boring. Keep your site updated with fresh news, new pictures, different surveys, remember variety is the spice of life!
