I knew Zig Ziglar was a great motivational speaker and that he was

also rich and internationally famous. In fact, I had heard about him for

most of my adult life. What I didn’t know was the specifics he used to attain all of this notoriety and wealth.

In 2002, my wife Lanita and I began attending Dallas’ Prestonwood

Baptist Church, which had about 20,000 members then. When we first

began to attend there, we would say to each other, "We can’t go to church here. It’s too big." After attending for awhile, we began to say to one another, "We can’t leave here. It’s just too good." We joined the Encourager’s Class which was taught by Ziglar.

During the next few years, we sat under the teaching of Ziglar, a person I came to know as a giant of a man with impeccable character and integrity. He is the one person who has manifested the biblical principles of success in his life better than anyone I’ve ever personally known.

There were a couple of hundred members in his class and many guests

each week. After he taught his lesson, I noticed Ziglar patiently would

stand and individually greet everyone who wanted to visit with him after

the class. This would last for about 20 minutes each week. I observed that he patiently gave each person who approached him the time they needed to say hello, ask him a question or have their picture taken with him. I never saw him become short or ill with anyone. He was kind, gracious and helpful to everyone who wanted a minute of his time.

I’ve heard him say on many occasions "I was forty-five years old,

broke and in debt until I gave my life to Jesus Christ. Before becoming a

Christian, I tried to become successful by myself and I was on the right

track. In fact, in another 100 to 120 years, I might have made it on my

own. But then I begin to learn the success principles of the Bible and utilized them in my business. In fact, all I did was paraphrase the concepts of the Bible and throw in some funnies and became successful as a result.

It’s not what Zig did, but what God did through Zig." Friends, Zig Ziglar

became wealthy, loved by millions and internationally famous by applying these Biblical principles in his life. These same principles are available to all who want to apply them.

"You can have anything you want in life, as long as you help enough other people get what they want."
