People choose to go to college for many different reasons. Maybe

it’s to please their parents, to make lots of money, or

maybe they’ve just never seen themselves doing anything

differently. However, maybe it’s time to take a step back

and go to college because you want to do it for you.

Your college years are a time to live and grow in many different

ways. Your college years are also a time to further your

education and become more knowledgeable in different subject

areas. Why not go to college for what really matters? You.

You’re the only one who can truly make the decision to go

to college and to succeed. If you chose to put everyone

else’s opinions and antics behind you and decide to reach

your own potential and go to college for you – chances

are you will be much more successful.

There are plenty of reasons not to go to college: money, time or

less-than-perfect grades, among them. However all of these

reasons are simply excuses. If money is the issue, there are

several ways to help you pay for school. The federal government

has many resources to help you finance your schooling. The Free

Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, can help you

figure out if you are qualified for federal funding. Many

colleges and universities also offer scholarship or loan options

for students.

If it’s time that has you thinking twice, think again. In

a few short years you could be starting your very own successful

career. Yes, it will take time now, but the benefits of being in

school will outweigh the time that you put into it now. Many

colleges and universities offer night and weekend classes to

help you with your schedule.

Maybe you think you won’t be able to get into school

because your high school grades aren’t so hot. If

that’s the case, speak with your guidance counselor and

see what your options are. All hope is not lost. Maybe you

won’t be able to go to a top university, but college is

still within your reach.

It’s important that you make the choice to go to school

for you. Go to school because you want to. Because you want to

learn more and you want to be successful. Go to school because

you want to become a valuable asset to society. Go to school

because you want to reach your fullest potential. Looking back

you’ll be glad you did.
