When you meet someone you are fond of, have you been prepared to start a date? Some people may confuse love with infatuation. If you just can not differentiate between them, then you may have a problem. It is much different between obsession and a crash, and make sure which condition yours stays in. If you really obsess someone, there are some points that will let you know that you have the obsession problem. For most people, once they are obsessed with someone who they could be dating, they will lose control over their emotions.
There is a "wheel" of recurrent nature of obsession. The first stage is attraction. Perhaps it will be beyond your control when your desire wants to see and talk to the object your love. Your brain will always be trapped in that romantic moment you imagine, and you even feel hooked to that person all day long. You try to know everything about that person and any slight change of behavior in him or her will bother you. Definitely you will be a bit crazy.
If you were in that condition, you will focus on nothing else but only a kind of feeling. You even will care little about this person's personality. The phase pushes you towards that person, and force you to make unrealistic assumptions about the person's everything.
The second stage is to turn point to your relationship. The person who are actively dating may make a commitment to the other one. The intimacy in this stage may just be an illusion, which both sides do not have sense of. It usually happens that the obsessed person begins to feel that the partner may not be faithful and the potential conflict comes out. One starts to fear that he or she will abandon this relationship. Being in fear, the person can not help contacting all the time through phone calls and emails.
The third stage is the climax of the obsession. The dating relationship is going to fail. The obsessed person has a great attachment the other one but this kind of relationship has become unhealthy. Then the other person also has overwhelmed feeling and starts to think about if he or she will go out of this relationship.
The last stage is destructive. The relationship is on the boundary of separation. It is caused by what happened in the third phase. The resulting sadness will take toll on the individual's self esteem.
