A double chair hammock is a great alternative to a traditional porch swing or glider. You could hang one on your front porch, back patio or deck, in your backyard, or by the pool. Double chair hammocks are attractive, versatile, durable, and affordable. So what do you need to know before buying one? Let’s consider some things that you want to keep in mind – the style, the fabric, and the rope or frame for your double chair hammock.
What Style Do You Want?
Double rope chair hammocks come in a variety of styles. Some are shaped like a chair, and only have one rope to attach the double chair hammock overhead. Some are similar to a regular double hammock, where both ends are attached to overhead as opposed to attached between two trees like on a regular hammock. Some double chair hammocks are portable and have their own frames to hang it from wherever you are, whether on the deck or in the yard.
What Type Of Fabric Should You Choose?
You need to pay special attention to the type of material your hammock is constructed from, and your choice of fabric should be determined by how and where you intend to enjoy your hammock. If your double chair hammock is going to be inside, a natural cotton fabric will be nice. It will be cool and comfortable, and you won't have to worry about it getting wet and possibly shrinking, and you can buy them in an assortment of colors that will match your decor. If you plan on hanging your double chair hammock outside it should be made of a synthetic fabric. A common fabric used in hammocks woven nylon. It is durable, drys quickly, and doesn't shrink.
Some of the most popular double chair hammocks aren't even made of fabric, but are constructed of woven rope, often made of soft cotton. Some people say that the rope hammock is less comfortable because the rope can dig into the skin a little bit but others love the natural aspects of the cotton rope hammock.
How Do You Hang a Double Rope Chair Hammock?
Where will you be hanging your double chair hammock? Some of that decision was made when you chose the style. But you can hang a chair hammock from the same locations that you would have hung a traditional porch swing. If you're hanging it from a covered porch or deck make sure you hang it from sturdy joists or beams that are capable of carrying a load of 300 to 400 pounds. Likewise, if you are hanging it from a tree limb make sure the limb can support the weight and motion of the swing. There are also beautiful wood hammock stands that are made specifically for the double chair hammock.
As you shop for your double chair hammock be sure to consider all of these things. Enjoy your double chair hammock!
