A common problem in many homes that subscribe to satellite television or have dial-up Internet access is the lack of access to a phone jack This is placed near the computer, or dish network converter box . Wireless phone jack subscribers can now easily add a telephone jack anywhere in their entire home without even drilling into the walls.
When the wireless phone jack system is plugged in, the power outlet transmits a wireless signal from the base unit to a receiver unit somewhere else in the home. The hard line telephone cable is plugged into the base unit while the receiver is plugged into the satellite receiver, or even into a standard telephone. The two boxes then sends signals back and forth to allow the remote telephone or receiver to act and operate exactly as if it was plugged into a hard telephone line.
One base unit can control and communicate with up to eight receiver boxes placed throughout the home. The wireless phone jacks have been approved by the major players in home dish TV. Now one shouldn’t worry about the telephone access near the receiver or the dish TV box this is because by using the system the installers can now save their time and energy.
In addition to simply providing telephone access the units also are able to pass caller ID signals through, to the equipment allowing caller ID information to be displayed on the television screen when used with appropriately equipped receiver units.
It is desirable to provide a means for passing caller identification ("Caller ID") to the receiver of a phone when the telephone call makes use of the power line carrier communication channel. Wireless, power line carrier telephone communication systems provide many important advantages to telephone users, especially where standard telephone jacks are limited or unavailable and where AC supply power is readily available to the users.
The wireless telephone jack works with multiple set-top boxes, modems, fax machines or other devices. It also has the 911 emergency interrupt feature where one can now call this number in case of any emergency. Along with caller ID facility one can also get call waiting compatible facility.
One can install the base unit, by connecting the enclosed phone line chord to the base unit and then connect the other end to the wall socket. Unplug the phone that is connected to the wall socket and plug it to the base unit instead. If the light glows in green this symbolizes that the base unit is connected to the wall socket. After following through the steps one can now have a clear concept of the base unit installation.
The wireless phone jack extension unit can be installed by plugging the phone chord of your phone, modem, and fax into the extension unit. After the connection of the phone one has to turn the switch to "S" –position for speech or voice and to connect a modem, fax, or satellite TV set top box one has to turn the switch to "C"-position. Now the installation of the wireless phone jack is done and is ready for use.
So, to sum up one has to plug the base unit into an electrical outlet and connect to an existing phone jack. After which the extension unit should be plugged into an outlet near the set – top box of the dish TV. You can then press the security code by pressing the button on the side of each unit and then connect the wireless telephone jack to the set top box, computer or internet appliance.
Wireless telephone jack is the one of the unique accessories provided by satellite TV providers. It gives you the best benefit to know your blank calls on the TV screen while you’re still watching your dish network programs.
