Writing a brilliant essay requires forethought, organization, and a bit of imagination. One of the first things that you want to do when writing an essay is to brainstorm until you have plenty of ideas from which to draw. The next step in writing a good essay is to write a sentence outline that includes a thesis statement. In this, you should have the topic, and at least three issues dealing with that topic. Generally, you will want to have at least three main points and two or more supporting sentences after each point. The conclusion should restate the main theses statement, re-worded in such a way to support and explain your main points.

For the main body of the essay, be sure that you elaborate on all of the supporting sentences. Another important point is that you must use excellent transition sentences between paragraphs. Always keep the main points in the order in which they are stated in the initial paragraph. The initial paragraph should also contain all of the information pertinent to the essay so that the reader can tell what the paper is about from that first paragraph.

When writing the essay, particularly an academic paper, or a term paper, you must remember that good grammar and writing styles are important. Not only will the grammar make the essay easier to read, the clarity will also help to prove the thesis. Remember, a thesis statement need not be just one sentence, but the theses should always be a completed thought or idea.

When writing an essay, the writer should be as invisible as possible. This means that use of the first person should be avoided. Using quotations within an essay is an excellent way to prove a point. Quoting an expert source is an excellent way to lend credence to the ideas that are presented within the essay. However, one must always make sure that the quotations are strong enough to support the thesis. Explanations are a great way to use quotations within an essay. Make every statement count. By reducing the filler, one can maximize the substance in the essay so that every sentence is rich in meaning.

Finally, a few tips that can help make an essay brilliant are to write clearly and concisely, make format and presentation count, and come up with an original idea about which to write. Plagiarism of course, must be avoided at all costs. Be sure to properly cite any work that you have used within the essay. Once you have a good draft written, take the time to go back over it, rearrange the structure, and ascertain that the ideas flow together, the transitional sentences are in place, and that the conclusion is clear and concise.

By budgeting your time carefully, organizing research materials and thoughts, and then carefully and systematically placing your original and well thought out ideas on paper, anyone can write an essay that is sure to get the point across, and more importantly earn you that A!
