Church Fundraising Takes a New Biblical Approach To Raising Money For God's Work
The economy has made finding a church fundraiser that works a hard task. It was hard enough to sell cookies and candy at yard sales and door to door at the best of times, but now, these traditional fundraisers don't produce the results they once did.
It doesn't mean that your church congregation doesn't want to give any more, it means they can't afford to give anymore. They are hurting from loss of jobs and taking pay-cuts to keep the jobs they have. It is a tough situation for all.
It is heart breaking to see churches across the country closing their doors due to the economy. Where there is a lack of finance, the church cannot pay for the bills to keep up the church and staff. It is like business. If it is not profitable, then it goes into debt and eventually gets shut down.
Hundreds of churches across the country find themselves in this predicament every month and are forced to close their doors.
Tithing and giving is down an average of 30% for many churches and they simply can't survive without an infusion of needed cash.
This is not the way the church is supposed to be run and we all need the church now more than ever. It is a fact that in tough economic times like these, people go to their church for help paying bills and for the necessities of food and clothing and to keep a roof over their heads. But, when the need is greatest from the church, they find the resources to do these things are not available due to the amount of money they are bringing in each month.
So, what is the solution?
There needs to be some sort of church fundraising revival that is going to give the church a boost in their finances and to give hope to the surrounding community that things are going to get better. But, people cannot afford to give. So how can you have a fundraiser for your church when people cannot afford to buy products or make donations?
Well, here is an idea based on scripture from Exodus 35:22, which says, "All who were willing, men and women alike came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds, brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the Lord."
Can Exodus 35:22 be applied to your church today?
Yes, it can. It has been successfully implemented through a specially designed church fundraising program that allows the church to raise the funds they need to serve the community and send people out to share the Good News of the Gospel.
Neil Howe from Church Fundraising Revival has partnered with a spiritually based company that will come to your church and buy gold from your congregation. They give an excellent price for broken and unwanted gold, higher than those "we buy gold" stores that your church members are going to anyway.
They have partnered with the top gold refinery that has 23 refineries around the world and get the best price you can expect for your gold. The value of gold is at an all time high and church members are always pleasantly surprised at how much money they will get back for the gold that is lying around their house in drawers that haven't seen the light of day in years.
In fact, from our experience, church members receive an average of$500-$600 for their gold.
Now, how the church makes money is church members are asked to donate a percentage of the money they get back for their gold to your church. We ask for a minimum of 10%, but it is often a lot more. Many people will just give the whole amount to the church as they know it is going to a good cause and is being used for God's work.
Our sponsoring company will also give back 10% of their profits to your church too, as a double blessing. So, your church wins twice and your church members have some new found money in their pockets that stimulate their household budget.
This church fundraising idea can be done in 2 ways, onsite at your church, or mail in to our company, just like you see on television.
If you host a church fundraising gold party at your church, members would come and drop their gold off in the morning and one of our trained professionals will weigh the gold onsite and call each member individually to let them know what price they are getting for their gold and whether they want to accept. They would then come and pick up their checks in the evening at a coffee and dessert function where they have the chance to get together with other church members and donate a percentage of that money to the church.
The atmosphere in the room is electric as people are smiling and laughing when they receive their checks and the pleasure they get from giving to the church is so satisfying. This is a way that people can give to their church, when there may not have been any other way.
Our mail in policy works similarly. Church members would come and drop off their gold in pre-sent postage paid and insured envelopes and would send them off individually to our company. We would then weigh and assess the value of the gold and give each church member a phone call to let them know how much they will get for their gold and ask them if they want to sell. They will also be asked how much they want to donate to their church and we send a separate check back to the church, with an extra 10% from our profits.
This really is an exciting and new approach to church fundraising. One that many churches are employing to raise the funds they desperately need in desperate times.
