Golf Distance Swing

Find your center. No, I'm not talking about your spiritual center, I'm talking about your center of gravity when you're on the golf course. For some of us, grip is the issue, for others, it's the swing, but for many, the problems start in the most deciding part of our swing, our momentum. Momentum starts at the ground and works it's way up the feet and legs, then into the hips and back and finally out the arms, but that's only the first half of your swing.
When you begin the motion of the back swing, the front foot drives backwards off the ground, shifting weight to the back foot. The motion continues backwards moving up into the hips. The hips twist and in fluid motion rotates the back and swings the arms. As the arms come up, there are three things to look at.
The first position you should take notice of is the point at which the club is parallel to the ground. At this point your power wrist should be at a comfortable ninety degree angle from the club. Finish the swing in this position, don't let the wrist fall loose. Also, You should be firmly planted on your back foot with the ball still in the center of your frame. The ball should stay at the center of your frame through the entire swing. It's alright to come off the center as you follow through moving forward through the swing as long as it's fluid comfortable and you aren't coming through so quickly that the momentum carries you off balance. It's hard to see where you land from on your back.
Next, I want to emphasize the importance of holding your frame on the back swing, Don't let that front shoulder dip when coming back. If you shorten the length of the pendulum suddenly while in motion, the slack in the line can throw off your rhythm and momentum. It can throw you off balance, make you over compensate the swing and slice. It can be bad all the way around.
As you wind up in your back swing, at the crest, the club should once again end up horizontal to the ground. In fact, the best golfers in the world, carry it even farther getting that extra extension, plus remember, your wrist will give it another few centimeters, assuming you're holding that ninety degree angle I talked about earlier.
At this position you are at the height of your swing. This is what those stretches you did come in handy for... You did stretch right? Just by stretching your back you can gain another 15% in distance. Think of your swing as a giant rubber band winding up at a comfortable steady rate. It winds up not tight enough to break, but high enough just to be tight and comfortable. As you get there and slow to that comfortable stop, transition every bit of that momentum built up in to forward motion and release it all at once on that focus point of energy at the tip of the pendulum.
