Boy Scout Camping Check List

Here's Everything You will need to bring for BSA camping trip. Make sure you don't forget anything and bring enough to last the duration of the trip. Make sure you pack appropriate clothing for the weather. Make sure you keep your gear dry and protected. Write your name on your gear so there aren't any mix ups.

1.Back Pack: duffel bag or large backpack will work. Bring a couple trash bags to keep contents dry.

2.Sleeping Bag: Make sure you have a heavy one if your camping in cold weather.

3.Foam Camp Sleeping Pad: You can find this for cheap at stores like Target Wal-Mart.

4.Rain Coat: If you would like to buy a couple disposable ones, There small and compact and great for back packing/Hiking.

5.Extra Pairs of Pants: Bring non-cotton pants if possible.

6.Sweat Shirts: It gets cold.

7.Long Sleeve Shirt.

8.Underwear: Bring extra pears.

9.Hat.

10.Whistle: make sure its in high quality, This could save your life.

11.Mess-kit: Fork, knife, spoon, bowl, plate, and cup.

12.Water Bottles: Bring 2

13.Flashlight: Bring extra batteries.

14.First Aid Kit: something small.

15.Pocket Notebook: Bring you BSA handbook.

16.Hygiene Kit: Hand soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, comb, floss, towel.

17.Toilet Paper: Keep it in a zip-lock bag so it stays dry.

18.Bug Repellent: don't bring aerosole.

19.Swimsuit: Bring a trash bad to put it in so you don't get the rest of your gear wet when your packing up to leave.

20.Shorts: Bring a couple pairs. No gym/basketball shorts. There flammable.

  1. Regular T-shirts: Bring enough pairs.

22.Tarp: It comes in handy.

23.Compass: with base plate.

24.Matches: keep in a zip-lock bag.

25.50ft of rope.

26.Pocket Knife: Make sure its a utility knife if you can.

27.Troop Shirts.

28.Hiking Boots: These must stay dry so keep them out of the water.

29.Socks: Make sure there long and bring extra pairs.

30.Your Scout Uniform: Scout hat, pants, belt, name tag, socks, official scout shirt

31.Tent: Nothing to big and make sure its water proof.

32.Jacket: Should keep out rain, wind, and snow.

Your camping gear doesn't have to be to expensive, you can find the majority of these items at Wal-mart or target. Make sure your ready for any kind of weather and don't forget anything on this list. The smallest of items can be the difference between a great camping trip to a miserable one. Be safe and have fun scouts.
