Your teeth are constantly bombarded by substances - various foods and beverages, smoking, etc. - that are working relentlessly to stain or discolor them and destroy the brightness of our smiles. For that reason stained teeth are an inevitable aspect of life most of us will face sooner or later. But it's far from a hopeless situation.
Stains caused by tea, coffee and tobacco can be easily cleansed by tooth whitening techniques using an acid based solution. An example is to prepare a mixture of baking soda and ripe strawberry and apply the paste to your teeth using a toothbrush. Be careful when applying the solution and do not let it touch the gums since it may cause some irritation. After five minutes, brush your teeth using ordinary toothpaste and rinse off thoroughly.
The first is one of the oldest methods that has been in use for years. If you like to try an at home teeth whitening method that has age on its side, then this is the one for you. Essentially it involves the use of baking soda. With this method, you scoop a small amount of baking soda and mix it with water. Make a thick paste of the baking soda similar to the consistency of a toothpaste. Place the paste on a tooth brush and brush for about five minutes with it.
Teeth-whitening methods that you can try are the use of over-the-counter whitening products such as teeth-whitening trays and gels. These are also very effective products, but the results might take some time. You need to be pretty determined to have your teeth whitened and use the products regularly or as per instructions. Depending on the strength of the active ingredients in the products, which is usually peroxide, it could take about 2 to 3 weeks before you can ultimately get the results you want.
If you're interested in trying a natural teeth whitening method that works and is not bad for the health of your teeth, consider mixing a baking soda and peroxide toothpaste and brushing with it once or twice a week. This mixture will not whiten your teeth drastically and the results will take some time, but you'll experience natural, healthy whitening after a short while.
Laser Teeth Whitening:
Your local dentist does the most professional method of teeth whitening; he/she will place high concentrated peroxide gel on your teeth and then laser them for quick reactivity and fast results. It is the most expensive method that can expect to set you back from $300 - $800.
The different teeth whitening methods are really to achieve the same outcome, but it depends on your financial situation and time limitations. You should be able to decide the right procedure for you easily as they are quite straightforward.
This factor is last not because it's least important, but because most methods are considered safe. While some home remedies can damage your teeth, buying a whitening product from a reputable brand is usually a safe choice. Similarly, having your dentist whiten your teeth can put your mind at ease. Many methods do cause some sensitivity, but usually it's nothing to worry about.
