Apple Mac Mini 2.53 GHz, this latest computer has achieved yet another milestone. It comes with a Mini-DVI to DVI adapter. It comes with an 110W power adapter and power cord. It comes with install and/or restores DVD facility. It is yet another breakthrough by Apple in computer technology.

With SuperDrive loaded on the front side slot, there is no physical eject button. This matches with Apple's philosophy of keeping the minimum number of buttons possible. It is through the operating system that you can eject the disc. The receiver for the wireless remote is on the right edge slot. A small white LED light below marks the status of the Mini.

Moving to the rear side, it has a large number of ports, including 5 USB 2.0 ports, mini-DVI port, Mini DisplayPort, audio In/Out and power port, and Firewire 800 port. Out of the 5 USB ports, 2 will be allotted exclusively for the keyboard and mouse. You are left with 3 for your customized uses. However, if you are using a wireless combo having a single Bluetooth dongle, then of course you can use 4 ports for your other uses.

This rear location of USB ports is not that convenient especially when you plug in or remove portable drives too often. Though not placing such USB ports on the front side makes Apple Mac Mini 2.53 GHz look more aesthetic, the ease of use has been perhaps compromised with it.

At the back and at the bottom around the edges is ventilation for the Mac Mini. Even during strenuous processor intensive activities, the Mac Mini runs astonishingly cool with the top and the sides only being lukewarm at the most.

The Mac Mini has the ability to be operating quiet as a whisper. It is only when you turn it on or when it comes out of Sleep mode that you will hear a gentle sound kicking in softly.

The new Mac Mini has two variants. While the lower model has a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the higher-end model has 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo. This is a landmark change from the previous era of 2.0 GHz processor for both the models.

While the older model had 1 GB and 2 GB DDR3 RAM respectively, the newer version has 2 GB for the base model and 4 GB for the higher-end model. The capacity of hard drive is now up from 120 GB to 160 GB on the base model. The higher-end model comes with 320 GB hard drive. The higher-end model has features that are surprisingly powerful in light of its small size. Its high-capacity processor ensures you can do processor-intensive jobs like editing image, watching high-definition movies, video/encoding with ease. More RAM on the higher-end model means you can run Photoshop with ease.
