Blogs are the website to use for fast online promotion of your content.

But with the principles I'm about to reveal, you can create even more exposure for your blog's content pages. There are 4 such principles:

  1. Search Engine friendly Site Structure

Optimizing your blog must start with permitting visitors and search engine spiders alike quick access to content pages.

And this is accomplished by reducing the number of clicks from the home page to each content page.

After getting readers to your blog, extend their stay with links embedded in the text body pointing to related posts and having installed the "related posts" plugin.

Not only visitors benefit from this interconnected structure but also your own site, as search engines grant it with superior rankings and enhanced authority due to the friendly, easy access structure.

In addition to this, name the categories with representative keywords for your niche. As the blog improves its market position it will begin to rank for those particular keywords, whether they're aiming to build a list or generate sales.

Still, be careful not to superpose category names with tag pages, e.g., don't tag your content with "dog obedience" when you already have a category with that name.

  1. Link Out to Related Blogs and Build Backlinks

A proven way of increasing authority and trust with the SEs is not to be cheap with linking out to relevant content to yours. Let's face it; you can't possibly know or cover it all.

Google doesn't encourage website isolation just for the sake of preserving PageRank.

And if you were to reference related sites do so with dofollow links. Nofollow links, although still theoretically valid and active, are disregarded by some search engines like Yahoo and MSN and even Google - for experimental periods of time.

To build links of your own, start with blog commenting, article submission and directory submissions. For some directories, in order to be accepted you have to pass some rigorous testing, but the smaller the acceptance ratio the more valuable the link you're creating.

  1. Watch Out for Duplicate Content

Having a great number of SEO plugins suited for any blogging platform that handle all the techy SEO for your blog, duplicate content within the site has stopped being a hot issue.

Plus, Google has developed its algorithm of indexing and crawling blog type websites and it pretty much knows which areas are predisposed to having dupe content and handles them accordingly.

Off site duplicate content refers to content scrapers that literally steal your content and embed it on their own websites.

To counteract these practices and even produce some free, collateral backlinks, always use absolute links (vs. relative links) when referencing your past content within an article's body text.

  1. Generate XML Sitemaps

XML maps are destined to let search engines know when they can index newly created webpages. Major, major leap forward as compared to static websites that get indexed a lot rarely and with little depth.
