Basically a bus hired by a person or organization to transport people to a specific destination is called as charter bus. They are mainly run by private companies rather than by public transport agencies. The charter buses would be provided with a number of amenities like air conditioning, entertainment systems, reclining seats and so on. These facilities would make sure that people are feeling comfortable and relaxed.
The charter bus rentals are hired months in advance for avoiding the last minute confusions. While you hire the rental bus, you may have to pay a flat fee in the beginning or sometimes it may be charged based on the mileage. The bus would be hired along with a professional driver who would be well trained to run the bus safely and would have a license and necessary documents that allows him to drive the vehicle. If you are taking a rental bus, the driver would take the route and direction suggested by the person or group that has hired it. This is entirely different from the public transport systems which take a set route always. The passengers would get into the bus generally from a public location like the parking lot or airport. However, the bus also makes a number of stops for collecting passengers and even picks them up at their homes.
The charter bus rentals would be used by the persons or organizations for a number of reasons. It is not practical to buy and maintain a bus which is only periodically needed. Here the need for charter bus comes in. They are relatively cheaper and convenient than to own buses. The bus charters are also been taken by group for the purpose of touring an area. For example if people want to go for wine tasting in a big group, the most convenient mode of transport would be rental buses. They can also be used to move large number of people who would otherwise travel independently. This would cause wastage of time, money and fuel. Like when students who are heading for an overseas class trip, it is cost effective to take a charter bus than drive separately to the airport.
One main advantage of charter bus is that it offers travel opportunities for people who would be otherwise unable to travel. The bus can be used for taking senior citizens or disabled persons for trips or even for more routine tasks such as getting people to grocery stores, polls and other desired locations. There are some facilities in the bus specifically designed for them. The buses are even useful at times of emergency situation for evacuation, transporting sports team and live bands.
People can easily locate companies which offer charter bus rentals in the urban area. There are several companies with well maintained buses and excellent services. For people in remote areas they can search the internet to locate the bus rentals in their close vicinity. Before hiring a charter bus, people should closely observe the rates, additional fees for mileage if any and the insurance coverage offered by the company. The safety record of the drivers, the maintenance record on the bus and types of amenities that the bus fleet provides should also be noted before hiring the bus charters.
