Most people who succumb to a position of leadership, in most cases, know little about how to lead others. In this article you will discover some key insights and the components of leadership, and how to take your leadership skills to the next level where you live, work, and play.
Whether you are a business executive, manager, team leader or trainer, parent, or just the guy who works at a nearby grocery store, leadership is vital to your success. In essence, we were all born to lead, however, only a few rise to this esteem responsibility. Your leadership was designed to take you before great people, kings, people of influence and affluence.
First things first, you were born a leader before you become one. The becoming refers to your personal development overtime. The heart of leadership requires a beat or pulse ... simply, it's a matter of the heart. It is not the position, which makes one a leader, nor the amount of responsibilities that determines how well you lead; rather, it is the unseen duties you perform and the purpose you were called to by your creator. Like the car, who was created to be driven, you were born to lead.
For this reason, leadership is more than just telling others why, when, where, and what to do; it is the ability to bring about an insightful level awareness among a group of people regarding a current position or state you desire to change. Having done so, it is the duty of a leader to express, wittily, his/her vision to accomplish the task(s) or changes. There are no blueprints to effective leadership, only the ones you create. This means, you must lead by example. Never be timid to take a position; after all, it is your difference in viewpoint which makes you unique. Not your ability to speak.
Have a desire for change; not just in your life, but in the lives of others, your environment, and where you live, work, and play. Leadership has the ability to change things and people. With this in mind, you don't need a PhD to change lives, just Desire.
Quick example: Moses of the Bible was one of the greatest leaders ever recorded in history, but in his mind he doubted his ability to speak and God gave him Joshua. Likewise, if you doubt your speaking powers or any other such attributes, find the problem that causes the glitch to occur and work on it. Leadership requires togetherness, not self or individual how-to' s and know how's. Get others to help you, and if you must, seek training; but whatever you do, get it done. It has been said that if you do something long enough overtime it becomes a habit. And, if continued for more than twenty-one days, will eventually become part of you. Thus, overcoming your fears will become a lasting habit, rendering you fearless instead of fearful or (full of fear). Plus, if you have a heart for others you are a leader; your only challenge, like a new pair of shoe, is to step into it.
Traits of a good leader:
Leaders seldom criticize others; that is, a good leader should not. Because, the time spent critiquing others could be used to develop a point of weakness in you. Effective leaders never look for excuses to make a change, they become the change, then look for causes noteworthy of change, and work diligently to bring a futuristic change that will benefit the community on a whole. Great leaders never seek praise. A leader who seeks accolades never achieves anything noteworthy; instead, effective leaders believe that all things are possible with time and is dedicated to seeing a set goal come to pass.
Great leaders never seek to find the right team or environment to work with or in; they sought for opportunities to make the refused and cast-out become acceptable and remembered.
The Power to lead:
Your greatness is never out there, but inside of you. Your leadership will take you to places you could only dream of. But the true power to lead is not what others think about you, it is how you see and think about yourself. To be a great leader you must be anxious to hear and slow to speak. You will find that we have two ears for a reason. Your goal as a leader is to do the math; that is, pay close attention to everything that you have in pairs of two and use them wisely and more effectively for personal and self-development! You have them for a reason. Use the pair of twos more often than the ones that come in singles. Leading begins with you and ends with others in mind. Remember, while patience may be an asset, timing is everything. Step to the plate and hit a grand slam... Lead the world!
