One thing you need to know when marketing your business is that print brochures are one of most effective tools to have in your arsenal.
With so many digital tools and software available in the market that can help you start your print brochures, it is therefore the option of many business owners to create one by themselves. But before you even send your finished design to your professional brochure printing company, here are simple tips you need to know so that your printer would not return your brochures for corrections.
Use Your Printer Specific Print Size.
It is the most common mistake that many business owners make when they design their brochures on their own. And it is the most challenging to correct. All too often, many brochure printing companies return print layouts because it was not in the same proper size that can be run in their equipment. Needless to say that the setup size is not similar to that of the output they provide. When a printer has to expand or shrink the layout to accommodate the paper size, the quality of the resolution is always the one to suffer.
Do not forget to allow for bleed.
A bleed is expanding your design slightly beyond the established page so that when it is time to cut the thousands of pieces of your brochure pages, your brochure would still have the same layout in every sheet perfectly. This would mean solid ink coverage throughout the pages, from edge to edge. An extra 1/8th inch beyond the edge would do.
Just High Resolution, please.
This is most critical if you want your images to come out the best in your brochure. Always go for high resolution graphics to avoid getting final pictures that are blurry and pixilated. If you are not sure about your own stock of images, go online. Many websites carry high resolution yet inexpensive and royalty-free images that you can use for your print brochure.
Choose the right paper stock.
Printers do ask that you use 100lb stock especially for brochures because it more substantial, and surprisingly, with just a slight difference in the price. It is actually your choice if you want to use an 80lb paper stock or the 100lb. But just remember that a brochure made from heavier and quality paper exudes a more professional look than that of the thinner stock.
By providing brochures that are in line with your printer specifications, you are not only saving the time it takes for your printer to finish printing your marketing tools; but you are also more importantly, able to save on your budget which you can use for other activities to grow your business.
