This is probably the only kind of hair extensions that you can apply on your own. The other variants are only meant to be applied under professional supervision. When you are using the clip hair extensions then make sure to apply a bit of hairspray onto the hair first. This will add volume and firmness to the hair texture. Then open up one clip of a hair extension piece and place it on the back of the hair. Continue this process until you have reached the front portion of the hair.
This method can be mastered with practice and a friend. Start off with adding only 1 or 2 tracks until you have mastered the technique. You will be able to wash you hair normally because Liquid Gold Bonding Glue is water proof. You will want to avoid greasy conditioners because they will loosen the bonds.
Since it is important not to damage your own hair in the process, a professional can help you decide between advanced weaving or pinch braid technique, fusion or bonding, or more temporary treatments involving clip-ins, shrinkies, and mini links. Advanced weaving involves creating a corn row or underhand braid that will lie flat against the scalp. Extensions are sewn into the tracks and then your natural hair will cover the evidence.
Beginning at the back side of your head, you will need to "section" your curls, making a narrow "part" down your hairline. Go ahead and braid this and place this section out of the way for now. You will then need to make another part from one ear to the other. Be sure and get your remaining hairs out of the way utilizing a pony tail or something similar.
There are some that are attached using a type of hot glue. Yes, believe it or not, they are are fastened to your existing locks utilizing a hot glue gun. Hot glue is applied to the end of the extensions and then applied directly to the root. This is referred to as highly "labor intensive" and takes several hours to complete the process.
The advantage of this type of hair extension is that no chemicals are used to attach the fake hair to your own hair; therefore no chemicals are needed to remove them either. Also, the false weaves of hair can be removed relatively easily, the braids can be tightened or redone if need be and the weaves can be sewn back onto the hair and reused again.
Weaving, for example, involves weaving into your hair strands with a needle. This can be quite uncomfortable as it is woven tightly so it will stay in place. This can be very time consuming. Also in time the weaving many need to be re-tightened, so the extensions may need to be checked so they will stay in place. This can cause additional expense as the whole method can only be done in a salon. Fusion can be either warm or cold, and the extensions have a special tip which contains a liquid which is fused to your hair when a gun is applied.
