If you are into serious article marketing, then you be continuously in need of new topics to write on. You might have written articles for one month, but could be at a loss about what to write on for the next month. Not only should the topics you choose be popular ones, but you should also be comfortable writing about them. After all, if you do not know enough to write about, then how will you be able to impress the visitor into clicking your backlink?
Choosing a good topic for article marketing requires some skill. Your own website will give you some idea on your topic selection. After all, it is the website you are trying to promote by your article marketing, aren’t you? So, ask yourself the question – what is my website about? What are you selling or promoting? Your article must pertain to that. In fact, your article must be a guide on how to use those products. For example, if your article is selling financial services, then good topics would be ‘What is Debt Consolidation?’, ‘How Can I Improve My Credit Ratings?’ etc. When people would read these articles which are actually guides, they will want to know more. That is when they will click the backlink and visit your website.
Always select a topic that tells people what to do. Your article must answer a popular question whose answer is not very well known. The following is a list of types of articles internet readers like to read about:-
(1) ‘How-to’ and ‘DIY’ Articles – Many people surf the net just to know how to go about doing things. The aim is both – to save money and to get the creative satisfaction of doing something. If your article is something like ‘How to Build a Treehouse in 3 Easy Steps’, you will be amazed at the number of people wanting to know about this.
(2) ‘What is’ Articles – People want to know about things, and the internet is the best place to get information. As an article marketer, you must always write a lot of ‘what is’ articles. These are the articles that simplify difficult concepts for your readers. These articles are very informative and educative. ‘What is’ articles explain people something for the first time. There are great chances that these people would want to visit the websites of the people who explain to them. For example if you have written an article titled ‘What is a Pneumatic Drill?’, then the interested visitor who understands the concept of a pneumatic drill from your article will surely visit your website to know more.
(3) Self Experience Articles – These are the articles in which the writer writes about something that happened in their own life. If you are writing such an article, make sure to write about something that has affected your life greatly. There should be a positive feel to the article, so that the reader feels inspired. You can write an article like ‘How I Became Successful through Time Management’. This will generate a good deal of reader interest.
These are mostly the kinds of topics that work in article marketing. Of course, you could be ingenious and make a genre of your own. But the point is, the article must be relevant to the general public and it must make a point.
Selecting the right keyword is also very important. Once you have decided which topic you’ll be writing on, you must check some keywords. Your keywords must be popular, but they should not be so common that there could be a thousand articles about them on the net. In fact, keeping a unique keyword helps check your article’s progress on the search engines, but that would make your article inaccessible to a large number of visitors. You should make a list of potential keywords you would like to use and then run a preliminary search on Google. See how many articles are written on that keyword already. If too many are already written, you may need to change the keyword a bit.
With article marketing, the whole intention is to gain visibility on the net. The efforts to make this happen begin with a careful selection of the topic. Use the above guidelines to make your selection, and see your article reap in the rich rewards you dreamed of.
