Creating a blog is simple with either WordPress or Blogger. But how to you get traffic to your blog? After all, what's the use of having a blog if nobody comes by to visit? You must have had a goal for your blog when you created it and whether it's to promote yourself, make money promoting products, to promote a cause, or something else, the more traffic your blog gets the better, right? Here are three proven methods to increase blog traffic.

  1. Post New Content Regularly

A common mistake many new bloggers make is not posting on a regular basis, especially at the beginning. You have to give people a reason to visit your new blog. It's best to post daily for the first month and then a few times per week after that.

You should post on a regular basis so your visitor and the search engines know to expect new content added to your blog on a regular basis. As long as your posts are informative or entertaining, you'll attract more visitors over time. And you want the search engines to come regularly to index your blog posts which in turn will attract even more visitors.

  1. Make Comments to Other Blogs

Another way to increase blog traffic is to make comments on other blogs. The best way is to find high PR links from blogs on the same topic. You can use your favorite search engine or Google's BlogSearch tool. You shouldn't have much problem finding several blogs on similar topics.

Take some time to read several posts on the blog to get a feel for it. Then make a constructive comment to one of the posts. Don't just comment with some rubbish, contribute to the conversation. If you comment adds value, people will be more likely to want to visit your blog. Leave your name and a link to your blog to allow readers and easy way to click over to your blog.

  1. RSS

RSS is really simple syndication and most blogs come with it these days. I use aweber's autoresponder service which comes with the capability to send an email notification to a list every time you make a new blog post. This is helpful because not every reader who reads your blog will remember to come back frequently. A friendly email reminder increases repeat visits to your blog which is more traffic.

RSS works very similar to an opt-in list. You just put a simple form on your blog and allow visitors to provide their name and an email address. Now they'll be notified every time a new post is made to your blog. It's very simple to do and is a great way to increase blog traffic. Visit CyberCa$hology.com to see an example.
