Having more trees around your home and office can make a huge difference in anyone's life. As we go about our day to day activities, many of us are often distracted by various factors that could be prevented if more trees were present. Sound crazy? Well, it's not! In urban areas, it is proven that temperatures and noise levels are higher than in their surrounding countryside. The countryside also has lower air pollution problems. Why do you think this is? Right, because the countryside has more trees! Because of today's technology, we are able to see just how beneficial trees really are to mankind. Trees have many benefits, everything from giving you a healthier environment to a better looking yard. With strategic placement, trees can actually lower your air conditioning bill by an average of 30%! Everyone can do their part to plant trees and help the community.
If you think trees would be hard to plant or grow, you're completely wrong. Don't be thrown off by their size and complexity, trees are very easy to plant, and even easier to grow from seed. Many people find the hardest part of planting or growing a new tree to be the process of choosing which tree or trees to go with. Since there are so many variations in trees such as size and shape, the type of care needed to maintain it, growth habits, and environmental requirements, the type of tree you choose needs to be planned out carefully as this decision will affect you throughout the possible lifetime you stay at your home.
Why is it easier to grow a tree from seed rather than plant an already growing tree? Well, for as long as trees have been around, their seeds have been germinating and sprouting naturally, without the help of humans. For the most part, when seeds are sown in the fall, they will usually begin to germinate and sprout by spring. You will need to check with the seed vendor as far as what depth the tree seeds need to be planted. If you plant them too deep, this can definitely delay the germination and sprouting process. Some seed varieties may not sprout by spring, they make take 2 or 3 years to get out of their dormant state.
Don't think that planting a tree is hard, we just said that growing a new one is easier. By knowing the mistakes beginners usually make, and how you can avoid them, it should be a breeze for you to plant a tree. Most beginners will make the mistake of planting a tree in a hole that is too narrow and too deep. If the hole is too narrow, the roots cannot expand to reach the necessary amount of nutrients. If the hole is too deep, the roots won't have access to the much needed oxygen. An easy way to avoid this, is to transplant a tree in soil that is no deeper than the soil in which they were originally grown.
Once you've got your new tree up and going, it is great to take care of it to insure that it stays very healthy and maintains a full life. The most common and easiest maintenance for a tree is fertilizer. The primary reason to fertilize is an obvious reason, to improve the tree's health. Just like humans, trees can suffer from diseases and stress depending on its environmental surroundings. Fertilizers are a great way to combat this.
