Let’s face facts here. We’re not all born beautiful. We all can’t have the lips and body of Angelina Jolie nor can we have a perfect face like Jennifer Aniston. That doesn’t mean we can’t try to get the look of perfection through makeup, and what better place to start than your eyes?
There is no better place to create the illusion of having a different shaped face than with your eyes. Eyes come in a million shapes and sizes leaving you limitless options for you to choose from. You would be surprised that the simplest eye makeup tricks can make such a big difference.
Here are a few makeup tips using eye shadow and eyeliner to help you get the right eye look you want. Follow these steps and you can easily change the whole appearance of your face.
-
Closer together - Most eyes look better if there is an emphasis on the outer “v” of the eye. However, you can get more bang for the buck with emphasizing the inner corner of your eyes. This will give off the look of your eyes appearing closer together. You can do this by sweeping a light shadow over your whole eye area. Next dust a medium color on the inner half of the eyelid, blending outward to create a natural finish. Now, you’ll want to line the inner corner of the eye to the middle blending outward the whole time.
-
Further apart - If you have eyes that are less than an eyes-width apart, create the illusion of having them appear wider by keeping the inside corners of your eyes light and the outer edges darker. Sweep your concealer a shade lighter than your skin on the inner corner of the lids. Blend well but don't forget the gray shadowy areas on the side of your nose. Stroke matte eyeshadow in a medium-to-dark shade outward and slightly upward from the middle of your lid towards the outer half. Start a line of eyeliner from the inner corner of your eye, tapering the line up and out, past the outer corner of the eyes.
-
Bigger – The one thing you’ll want to remember for making your eyes seem bigger is to focus on lighter shades. Dark shades will only make your eyes appear even smaller. Sweep a light shade, then over the outer corner of the lid and crease with a darker shade. Next, line the outer upper and lower lids with some eyeliner making sure to taper a bit outside the eye. Finally, dab a little white or cream shadow in the middle of the brow bone.
-
Less droopy – No one wants to have Droopy Dog eyes. You don’t want to look sad all day. Lift up those eyelids by applying shadow to the outer corner of the lid, extending the color up and out in an almost feline shape. Use a light highlighter to the brow bone & skip on the eyeliner. Apply your mascara, while focusing on the inner corner of the eye.
-
Less deep-set – If you have deep-set eyes, then more than likely you have prominent brow bones. To downplay that brow bone, sweep a light or medium-tone shade on your lids, and then shade a slightly darker shade above the eye crease. Apply eyeliner from the inside of the eye, tapering it towards the outer part of the lid.
