It must be fantastic to be living close to the coast. You can laze around on the beach. You can dive into the clear sea waters. If you are the adventurous type, you can try scuba diving, wind surfing or water skiing. If you are more of a poet, then you can set yourself by the ocean-side watching a glorious sunset. If you have children, or are hoping to relive your best childhood memories, you can try collecting the shells brought in by a gentle tide. Beach getaways generally are a great place to bring the whole family.
The island of Krk off the coast of Croatia is one such place. Located in the Kvarner Gulf, the island of Krk has also come to be known as the "Golden Island". One look at the place will definitely answer why. If you are looking for sun, sea, and superb hospitality, this island is a great choice of place for a vacation. It has beautiful natural landscapes that could win you photography contests. The waters of the Mediterranean lap beautifully at its shores. Lush greenery and gentle bays greet anyone who is privileged enough to pay a visit here.
Of course, the stunning scenery is not the only great thing. The island of Krk also has a number of towns that date back to the Roman empire, such as the town of Omislaj in the north of the island. Punat, towards the south, is well known for its sophisticated marinas and the major regattas it hosts each year, while Baska, in the east of the island, is famous for its beautiful beaches. For those more interested in nightlife and food, the popular tourist resort of Malinska offers a plethora of lively nightclubs and restaurants.
If you like to fish, or are open to the idea of trying out different types of seafood, this is a great place to be in. The Kvarner Gulf is home to a wide range of fish. In and around the island you can find sea bass, bream and sardines through to squid and octopus, among a variety of other kinds of seafood. The people in general are very friendly and hospitable, and will advise you on the dishes that you should not miss out on, or indeed, where the best fishing is to be found.
The island of Krk is frequented by people scouting out for unspoilt islands and secluded beaches. However, the great thing about this Central European Island is that it is easy to reach from other areas of Europe. The international airport of Rijeka is actually located on the northern part of the island, and services mainland Croatia via a spectacular bridge, as well as by ferry. Moreover, Krk is quite close to the other Mediterranean countries. If you like, you could visit nearby Venice in Italy, or alternatively simply drive over to Vienna.
It is a good idea to invest in some property in a place like this. Moreover, the island of Krk is growing in importance as a good place to invest in. Krk has already become a tourists' paradise. Now, it is aspiring to charm "holiday home" seekers to invest in property there. Maybe I will hop over and buy a place for myself.
