The tour of Indian team in England is the talk of the town in the recent days. With the mixture of experience and the vibrant young blood in the side the Indian team is quenching for its overseas victory after a long time. The recent series win of the Barmy Army over the Proteas has boosted their confidence level. This may be the last test for the veterans like the Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Anil kumble and skipper Rahul Dravid. While Dravid and Ganguly are a bit more rational about it, the Little Master is fairly nostalgic.
Tendulkar with 37 centuries to his name till craves for that elusive one at the Mecca of Cricket - Lord's. Sourav Ganguly and skipper Rahul Dravid are back at the ground where they made their Test debut in 1996. A win is definitely what they want to start their English summer with. Lot of responsibility is now in the shoulders of Yuvraj Singh and M.S.Dhoni. They both are the backbone of the future Indian team. Dinesh Karthick has also impressed everyone with his consistent performance.
The bowling attack has been prominent Seamers Zaheer, Sreesanth and RP Singh are collectively in a good pace.Anil kumble leads the spin attack from the front. He might be accompanied by Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh to provide vital break through. The medium pace attack of Sourav Ganguly will be handy.
Fresh from a series win against the West Indies, England Captain Michael Vaughan reckons that his spin trump card Monty Panesar will be the secret weapon. The left-arm spinner, who has been making waves in recent times, took 23 wickets at an average of 18 in the recently concluded series against the West Indies and is ranked 6th on the ICC rankings for Test bowlers. The skipper is back to a wonderful form after a long rest because of injuries. His style and elegance is mind blowing. His comeback to the side has boosted the morale of the team. Despite thrashing the West Indies to a complete white wash, the skipper knows they are playing against a better opposition this summer.
Kevin Pieterson will be lethal weapon in the destruction of the inexperienced Indian bowling attack. When he steps in to the crease the willow acts like a magical band obeying the magician. He can threaten the opponents to such an extent that they would look totally clueless and they would just go through the emotions without actually having a definite game plan for the batsmen. Vice-captain Andrew Strauss can be a mighty opener if he starts staying in the crease. The left-handed opener is very strong in playing late shots as well as hook shots. He can cause the opponents drown into a precarious situation.
England would definitely miss the ferocious attack of Trescothick.Without the main seamer Andrew Flint off, Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard it is definitely going to be a tough time of man management for the skipper.
Keeping all the statistics in mind, the test match is still a wide open contest. The team which plays well on that particular day deserves the victory. A seven match One day series follows the three Test series and while India will no doubt be the overwhelming favourites for the limited overs version of the game.
It is no real secret that the Test series is what will really separate the men from boys, because “Form is temporary, Class is permanent “.
