You're going to retire and the thought of all that time, with nothing to do, is terrifying.. This is the perfect time to take those cameras and camera bags off the shelf and get serious about your photography. You always wanted to, but you were just too busy building a career and raising your family. There was never enough time to devote to it the way you would have liked; now there is.
Photography is something a person can do after retiring and, if they're so inclined, can take it to the next level as second life career. It can be done solo or with a partner; in your local area or while travelling.
If your interest is in flowers, you can start as easily as taking pictures in your backyard garden. Here you can begin experimenting with angles, light and shading, since all you have to do is walk out your back door. When you're comfortable, take a trip to the local rose garden and add background scenery. Experiment! Experiment! Experiment!
Some day trip destinations you might want to consider are to the local Wildlife Preserves
and National Parks, which normally offer an abundance of horticulture shots. An added bonus in these locations, is the ability to add variety to your pictures with the wildlife.
Another dream for many retirees is to hop in that motorhome and see the country.
What better way than through a camera lens. Map out your trip to include a visit to as many of our National Parks as you can and take pictures of the wildflowers that grow in each particular area. This would require additional planning, but would result in a remarkable portfolio.
Once you've mastered the art of photography and have a marketable product, there are many outlets for quality images. Photography Events and Festivals, fairs and bazaars, publications, pamphlets and magazines, on-line, just to name a few.
You reap many benefits and rewards from choosing to pick up that camera and start shooting those pictures. One of the obvious benefits are the gorgeous places and objects you get to see and photograph. Then, if you decide to sell your creations, there's the added income. The health benefit is also major factor. All that walking, hiking and bending is ideal exercise for the senior.
Take out those cameras, pack them in your camera bags and head out in search of some beauty. Now that you have the time, why not pursue the passion.
