A truck extended warranty is not going to cover anything that could happen to you. Know what is covered and what isn’t covered before you experience a breakdown. It is important to review that truck extended warranty when you buy it and not when you have a breakdown. That way you will not have any surprises when you think that your extended warranty is going to cover the cost and it does not.
There are different types of truck extended warranty that you can buy and each type has a different type of coverage. Certain types will give you bumper to bumper coverage. Bumper to Bumper coverage will cover all types of breakdowns including wear and tear of parts. Other coverage may only cover powertrain coverage. In other words, the coverage is only for engine or transmission failure and mainly only in the event of defective parts.
When you are in the dealership and being offered the truck extended warranty, be sure to ask questions about your truck extended warranty. For instance, if your water pump has failed and it consequently caused problems in your radiator. Does your truck extended warranty cover the repair for your radiator?
Ask the dealer if you need to do all your maintenance at the dealership for the truck extended warranty to be in effect. What should happen if you are late in getting one of the maintenance checks done? Will that cause your truck extended warranty to be voided?
Does the truck extended warranty offer road side service or towing service? Some truck extended warranties do offer this service, and it is an important service to look for. Many times a good truck extended warranty company will send out a repair person, a locksmith and even a towing service to help you out.
Do your homework before you buy a truck extended warranty and you will be fine, in fact, you will be happy with your purchase. As to whether or not you really need truck extended warranty, that is really up to you. It depends on if you plan on keeping the car more than three years or not.
