Pollution in any form or any place is harmful. No matter which part of the globe is affected, it affects the entire world. As on date, what seems to be on the rise is the pollution in the Pacific. It is a cause of concern today!
There are many reasons for the pollution in the Pacific. For one, the region has shipping-related pollution, perilous elements like chemicals, all kinds of wastes etc. The water too has not been spared.
The marine species, the ship wrecks, the waste material which is disposed off in the ocean from factories, and also from the ships or submarines. There is a rise in solid waste and the control of chemicals has no control.
Environmental pollution seems to have some kind of link with poverty. It is said that people who are poor, are most susceptible to loss in basic supply of food. As the water is contaminated, they are the ones who fall prey to diseases.
As stated earlier, the discharge from factories or marine resources lead to what is called wasted resources. For instance, a vehicle exhausts fuel in the form of smoke, which is hazardous to the environment.
Many resources are thrown away as they are regarded as useless. However there are many ways to use them. One of them being to use the waste as what is known as compost. These materials once recovered have direct economic benefits, say like reselling waste fuel.
There are people who throw garbage in wrong places which in turn leads to pollution which is harmful for those living near that area. It leads to diseases and other non curable problems. These lead to what is known as the social reasons for pollution. There are many camps which are either managed remotely or are in a very bad condition. These camps are setup to provide medical help to those suffering from pollutants.
The risk is higher for children and women. Reason being, women then to be prone to accumulation of fat in the body as compared to men, therefore they are at a higher range of risk. Some of these women may also be pregnant, and these harmful pollutants maybe transferred to unborn or new born babies.
Babies and young children are still in the stage of developing immunity, they are exposed to elements like mercury and lead. These are harmful for not just the body but they also weaken the mind.
The question now is what should be done to prevent pollution to be a threat for one and many. Some say there should be environmental agreements amongst nations. These agreements must be adhered to and the rules and regulations should be taken care of by everyone.
Secondly, many recommended that in the ocean, the ships waste should also be managed, so that they do not become a cause of concern for the world. An improvement is needed and it can only happen if people come together and as someone said, make the world a better place for you and for me and for the entire human race!
