So you want to get your house painted by a professional but you are finding the process a bit of a hassle? If you want good results and a professional finish simply follow these easy steps and you will have a stress free experience.
Sometimes it may seem like an obvious thing to do but, asking your family and friends for advice can be a life saver. They may have had some work done in their home and made the efforts in getting it done correctly.
If this is not an option, searching the internet is by far the easiest choice. Simply searching for your area and "house painter", for example Dundee house painter, will bring you several results that will be relative to your needs.
I would advise that you look for a website that has a professional appearance. Check the company information. Do they have contact details? Can they give you a rough estimate over the phone of how much it may cost for the job? Images and testimonials of their work are also something to look for. Take note of as many results as you can.
It is vital that you get as much information as you can on your potential painter. Do they have a contractor’s license? Do they have a warranty of any value? Are they insured for damage? These are some important things to find out when making enquiries.
When making enquiries also ask if they work to a schedule, how long it would take to complete the job. How do they plan to prep the area and clean up. You don’t want to be left behind once the painter has left tidying up, especially when you are paying for their services. If you get a No from any of the companies, discard them and move on to the others in your list. You do not want to work with the companies that can’t offer you this.
When you are happy with your short list its now time to invite your painters to your home for an official quote. Get it in writing, making sure they quote the paint they will be using and any other costs.
Once you have a set of quotes I would discard the most expensive one and the cheapest. The reason for this is the most expensive may be over pricing as they do not want the job, or are out for a quick buck. The cheapest may be under estimating how much it may cost and this may result in hidden prices that will come back to you at the end of the job.
