Situated in the province of A Coruna, this little town has more to offer for the tourist. According to the archaeological evidences so far obtained, the earliest civilization that lived in the city is Castro culture. Later it was under the occupation of Romans too. Now the city is on the tourist map of Spain. Interestingly, Cambre shares its borders with other municipalities namely Carral, Celleredo and Oleiros. Some of the places of interest for the tourist in Cambre are:

Our Lady Mary Church:

In Spanish language this church is called Iglesia de Santa María de Cambre. Historians are of the opinion that this church was built during the 12th century. The church is most popular amongst the local people. It underwent several modifications during the later period. It is popular for sculpture works and an imposing view of the bell tower.

Museum:

This famous archaeological museum is not far off from the heart of the city. The museum is housed in a building which itself is believed to have been constructed centuries ago. The museum has collection of many articles belonging to Roman and Moors period. The Roman bathroom and latrine which have been excavated are still preserved. The other museum is the house of the famous writer Wenceslao Fernandez. He was a Galician writer.

Way of St. James Cathedral:

The town is situated near the famous cathedral ‘Way of St. James’ where the remains of the apostle of St. James are buried. So this place has great religious importance. It is believed that this cathedral is in existence since more than 1000 years. Needless to say this cathedral receives visitors throughout the year.

The beach:

Being close to the beach, the place is most ideal for tourists who want to spend their holiday enjoying bathing in the crystal clear sea water. With the beautiful nature around, the tourists will certainly feel the heaven on earth. Another unique factor of the beach in Cambre is that the beach is visited by some wildlife like Caterpillar which lives on the buckthorn in the sea.

The other wildlife normally seen is weever fish which lives on the sandy sea bed. The silver Y moth is another wildlife found on this beach. The beach has all the amenities like telephone booths, restaurants, bars, pubs and of course apartments and villas. The coast control office keeps a watchful eye for the safety of the tourists on the beach and those in the sea.
