HGH, human growth hormone is the hormone in the human body responsible for maintaining its integrity and health as well as increasing lean body mass. The scientific name for this hormone is somatotropin. Many people seem to misunderstand the nature of HGH in the human body and do not grasp exactly what this hormone does.
Human growth hormone is capable of stimulating the growth of lean muscle mass, repairs to damaged cells, and replacement of dead ones. As time goes by we naturally begin to generate less of it on a daily basis. At the age of twenty the average production level of somatotropin in the human body will waver between four hundred and five hundred micrograms. This is based on activity level and in some cases gender. This production will decline to roughly half that amount at age forty. However, by the time this individual reaches age eighty they will produce around twenty-five micrograms on the average. This means that the average person can produce twenty times less HGH on the average at age eighty as they can at age twenty.
Supplements for HGH are not actually giving the body more human growth hormone. These supplements provide important amino acids that the anterior pituitary gland uses to create HGH. This does not mean they are scams or worthless. They do work, and work well for the purpose of aiding in the increase of lean body mass.
However, it should be noted that there is a strange idea that using HGH supplements will turn an average person into a super human muscle building machine. This is not true. A good, solid, HGH supplement will work well for some people and be practically useless for others. There are two primary factors that determine how well a proper supplement will work for you. Those factors are age and activity.
An eighty year old man or woman that works out every day will find that a good supplement will help them out to an incredible, almost staggeringly effective, degree. A twenty year old man or woman that sits around eating potato chips and playing video games all day will barely notice any change at all. In all honesty a twenty year old power lifter will not be likely see that much difference either. The truth in this matter is that HGH supplements can help increase lean body mass but only in individuals that need the boost. A young highly active individual already produces the maximum amount of HGH the body can use naturally anyway. The rest is wasted. For these individuals they would be better served by a simple multivitamin. To force the body to build significantly larger amounts of lean muscle mass using HGH at a younger age will require the use of injections. This is a normally illegal course of action without medical reasons.
