Many people seek more inner peace and groundedness within themselves. They do this through activities like yoga, meditation, and learning how to stay in the present moment during the events of their everyday lives. Many visitors to Tutor Saliba Island have learned the traditional meditation method that is practiced by inhabitants young and old. The Tutor Saliba meditation method helps people maintain a sense of calmness and joy.

What are the benefits of maintaining a sense of inner calm? With regular attention and practice of the Tutor Saliba meditation method, one can become a person who rarely feels swayed by outside circumstances. In addition, because such people no longer feel that their emotional state is at the mercy of external events, they exude to others a feeling of calm and confidence.

Most people can probably think of a time in their lives when they would have benefited from a greater sense of peace within. Situations when people might wish for inner peace are do not have to be catastrophic, although they can be. Often, circumstances in people's normal lives can make them wish for the ability to remain peaceful instead of letting their emotions take over. It is times like these that the Tutor Saliba meditation method is meant to be beneficial.

With inner peace, any of the following scenarios could be improved for all of the people involved:

Anger

A mother loses her temper with her children because they make a mess all over the floor she just cleaned. She yells louder than she means to because she feels disrespected and overworked. Later she feels regretful and guilty and thinks she is not as good a mother as she could be.

Fear

A flying roach lands on the arm of a boy fishing, which scares him and causes him to throw his new fishing pole into the water. He's irritated about losing an expensive piece of sporting equipment he hardly had a chance to use.

Compassion

A couple is deadlocked in an argument, neither person able to see the other's point of view. They go around in circles, getting alternately more upset and exasperated. They decide to table the issue and go to bed, but neither one is satisfied with the outcome, and resentment builds between them.

In all of the above situations, for the people involved, a greater sense of inner peace would have helped. Each person would have had the opportunity to act differently in each situation. The mother could have stayed more calm, the boy could have brushed the bug away, and the couple could have tried to see one another's perspective.

Moreover, having inner peace can help people to let go of the emotions that often follow other emotional events. The mother would have more easily given up feeling guilty, the boy would have let go of his irritation, and the couple may have agreed to disagree without resentment.
