Do you have low self-esteem? Are you nervous to be in big groups of people because you are afraid of what everyone will think of you? Well, don't worry, you are not alone. Many of us deal with low self-esteem at some point in our lives, and this lack of self-esteem can cause problems in our personal lives and at work. Many people admit that the more self conscious they are, the harder it is to make and maintain friends. If you aren't sure of yourself, how can you expect anyone else to be sure of you? Here are some tips to help you increase your self-esteem and have a new lease on life.

  1. Remember that no one is supremely confident. This means that even if someone looks like they have it all together, they actually have something that makes them feel self conscious. However, they have chosen to not focus on their flaws, and as a result they come across as not having any kind issues. They are basically acting like they don't have a care in the world, and convincing people that their lives are perfect. How can you put this into practice? Well, when you're talking to people, do your best to avoid pointing out what you consider your flaws. For example, if you feel self conscious about your teeth, don't talk about how you hate your smile and constantly cover your mouth when you are talking, just smile and talk like nothing is wrong. People may notice your teeth at first, but once they realize you are comfortable with them, you will put them at ease, and they will focus on what a great conversationalist you are.

  2. Sometimes when we have low self esteem, we feel like the only way to increase our own self worth is to put someone else down. This is simply not true. You will never be able to make yourself feel better by constantly putting someone else down. Interact with others the way you would like others to interact with you, and you will instantly feel more confident. People who have a high self esteem are confident in their own abilities, and don't need to gossip about other people so that they will look cool for the moment. Remember that at the end of the day, what goes around comes around; so if you are mean to others, they will be mean to you.

  3. A great tip for increasing self-esteem is to review the good things you did or said during the day. Focus on the good things daily and you will feel better about yourself. Don't feel that you have to come up with great things. No One does great things everyday. We all do several good little things everyday. You can remember things like, "I never feel self conscious about myself", "I drove safely today", "I held the door open for a woman with 3 toddlers", "I got the hard question right on that test" or even "I didn't let anyones negative comments affect my self esteem". You review these good things on your way to work, while you're in the shower or while you're working out. It doesn't really matter where you recall them, recalling the good things frequestly will improve you view and feelings for yourself. Afterall, isn't that what improving self esteem is all about?
