When using Erickson hypnosis, a big role is played by confusion. Basically, what you want to do with this form of hypnosis is to connect with your the unconscious mind of your subject. When you confuse your subject, you fog up and occupy their conscious mind; thus, their unconscious mind is what becomes in control to make decisions. To find out three easy steps for you to use confusion in Erickson hypnosis, just keep on reading this article.
Using ambiguous words is the first technique that are able to easily use. I like to call these ambiguous words "Transmission Twins" because you transmit the information in the same way no matter what meaning you intend. For instance, no matter if you mean "to see" with your eyes or "the deep blue sea," both words are transmitted the same by making the same sounds. Using Transmission Twins in your speech will help create confusion in your subject.
Next, you can try using Stacking Sentences. You employ this technique by never really ending a sentence that you start--just keep stacking onto it! You might start off with something simple "I had a cat that died last summer" and then just keep on adding to your story. Maybe you'd add something like "That summer was very hot, I can't stand it when it's hot, I always have to go to the pool, I think chlorine smells so bad…" and on and on. Notice how each part of the Stacked Sentence is only related to the part immediately before it.
Relation is a big thing to keep in mind when creating confusion with Erickson hypnosis. You want to create some sort of related pattern in the things you are saying. Keep the pattern up for long enough for your subject to get used to it. Then, just as suddenly as it started, break the pattern roughly and abruptly.
After reading this article, you should know three easy steps to use confusion in Erickson hypnosis. You know to use ambiguous words (also known as Transmission twins), use Stacking Sentences, and use a pattern break. If you practice these three steps, you should be able to easily confuse any subject in order to open a path to their unconscious mind.
