If you are having your wedding reception outdoors, that opens the door for many activities that'd be troublesome to drag off inside. You can plan games and activities based mostly on the outdoor theme and carry that theme inside if part of the reception is within also. Dependent on where the reception will be held, you can plan many activities based completely on the setting. If it is the park or on a farm, there are a myriad of activities you can plan. One fun game for a winery wedding is a blindfolded wine tasting game. If the bride-to-be and bridegroom are wine drinkers, this could not a game the bride-to-be and groom should play a part in, but instead guests and wedding party members.
Blindfold maybe six volunteers and have them do a blind taste test ( provide something to clean the palate between sips ).
The volunteers should guess which wine is the pinot noir, which is the Cabernet, and the like. A bottle of wine is the clear prize for the winner of this game. Say you are having a reception at a members club on a golf course. As a simple, "who gets the center piece game", you will have folks guess how many golfing balls there are in the floral center piece ( which could decorate a plain giant glass vase packed with flowers ). In a corresponding fashion, there could be a large vase or other clear container crammed with golfballs at the reception somewhere and guests could guess how many golfing balls are in the vase.
A mad game could be made on the floor by asking everybody to incorporate their best golf swing into their dancing for one tangible song.
As an example, if the reception is being held at a park, maybe guests might enjoy a "walk down memory lane". Before the reception, somebody can use potted plants or arbors to form a little private lane, which guests can walk thru. Along the trail, guests will find pictures of the bride-to-be and groom at assorted stages in their lives. There should be a place for guests to record their thoughts and memories on the way also.
Try and imagine the fun photos you will get out of a stirring game of football or baseball played by girls in dresses and sneakers and men in suits and sneakers. You can provide a challenge activity concerning shoeless dancing in the grass or a Frisbee toss in the yard. Is there a pool in the yard where the reception will be held? Why don't you have got a swimming activity for after all the reception is done?
