Hypnosis: is a mental state or set of attitudes and beliefs usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a series of preliminary instructions and suggestions.
Prior to the 15th century a crude form of hypnosis was practiced. A ‘suggestion’ was implanted in to the patient's conscious and subconscious mind, that they would "accept" healing and invoking the patients ‘power of belief’. Patients believing that they were being healed would put their ‘own’ mind power to work healing themselves.
Hypnosis is being accepted more and more for treating a range disorders. When most people think of hypnosis they retain images of a line of people up on stage, doing amusing but embarrassing antics when cued by a stage hypnotist. However, you don't have to become a chicken to be helped by hypnosis. Hypnotherapy, play a very effective role for thousands of people who want to lose weight, overcome their fear of flying, reduce stress and give up addictions such as smoking etc.
Hypnosis should always be done by a trained hypnotherapist, who will guide you to a state of mental relaxation and use a repeat set of instructions aimed at the subconscious level. The subconscious is where the mind holds its beliefs, and by targeting this area it can effectively help you to change behavior and attitudes, become more motivated and achieve your goal.
