Yes, it can become a bad habit. Sometimes you become so unaware that after years of being married you gradually develop this bad habit of taking things for granted. You have become presumptuous with regard to your relationship with your lover. You sometimes tell or justify yourself that there is nothing to prove anymore- your partner knows you love him.
Plus the factor of the "realities" of life- the stress can be overwhelming sometimes- work, chores, bills that you don’t have the time or energy to do the things that you used to do. So you put your relationship aside and get back to it when you have the time or energy.
That’s where the problem comes in- the stress never ends and you forget about what is it all about being in a relationship. If you can relate to what I am saying, here’s a thought for you, the perfect de-stressing activity that you can do is to take time for your loved- one, break the bad habit of taking things for granted.
Some people are totally clueless that they are already taking their relationship for granted. So, here are some signs that you are guilty of the bad habit of taking your lover for granted. Let’s start from the little things. When you go and buy groceries you totally forgot to buy his favorite cereals- his breakfast for the last thirteen years of being together.
When it comes to socialization, you accept invitation to parties or gathering without asking you partner or you simply tell him to be ready in two hours because both of you are going to some event. This shows that you trivialize the time of your spouse. Another bad habit that you are guilty of is you don’t make an effort to look presentable when you are with him.
And when he has a new hair cut or something new to wear, it just doesn’t occur to you to give a compliment or even an acknowledgment. Another bad habit is you stopped being lovable to him, you cease being endearing or saying those sweet nothings unlike the way you used to during the early years of your relationship.
Another bad habit that you should break once and for all is not paying attention when he needs something from you. "What is it this time?!" is your approach every time your lover asked you to listen. It’s understandable and it’s human to get annoyed but never repel your partner.
Try to hear or listen more, sometimes the best solution is to give more attention than to try to avoid it. Spend more time with each other and please don’t ignore him when you are with your friends. It’s hurting. If you know that you are guilty of this bad habit break it now or you’ll be crying over it soon.
