Is Cyprus the right place for you to retire? Do you think you would enjoy this island to finally unwind and spend your retirement relaxing? It's considered by many to be a perfect place to retire, but you should learn a bit more before you make your own decision.
Your Health
Having a healthy retirement is very important if you want to enjoy these years, so why not move somewhere known for its healthy population. The infamous "Mediterranean diet" is the norm in Cyprus, and the people are generally very healthy because of it.
It's been said that many who move to Cyprus find that conditions like chronic arthritis are dramatically improved, or even eliminated completely. Being free of pain is reason enough to choose Cyprus for your retirement.
The Food
Cypriot cuisine is delicious, and traditionally focuses on local home-grown foods that are healthy as well as tasty. Imported food is not common, and people just adjust their eating through the year to use what is in season. Local markets are brimming with organic fresh foods. So many things are grown in Cyprus, you'll have no trouble finding all kinds of fruits, vegetables, legumes, herbs, teas and even healthy soy products.
The Weather
Cyprus is a very sunny, and usually hot location with summer temperatures over 30C. There is sunshine for about 300 days and it can get hotter than 40C, but that's not too common. Even if you are not used to such a tropical climate, most people adjust quickly to the heat and come to love it. Eventually, you'll probably find that staying in other climates with lower temperatures to be quite chilly.
Outside Living
Getting out of the house and being social every day is what makes life in Cyprus so special. Because of the glorious weather, you can spend most days outside. Socialize, relax, eat, drink, go swimming, or just sit in the shade and read a good book. The more time you spend outside, the more people you will meet, which leads to even more outside socializing. It's a great cycle.
These are just a few of the positive aspects of retiring to Cyprus that may be appealing. Take everything into consideration when making your decision.
