If your daughter is a fan of the Disney Fairies series of movies then you may be inundated with gift choices due to the sheer variety of toys, books and other accessories available. If you are looking to purchase books based on Tinker Bell and her friends then you are in luck.

Unlike the toys where there are a number of "clankers" (excuse the pun-fans will understand!) the books released by Disney have been largely winners. After my daughter started showing interest in the series and I too became a fan after seeing the quality of the movies, I started looking around for resources to help her engage with reading and creating as well as activating her imagination.

I didn't have to look far.

The two main books about Tinkerbell and Pixie Hollow are "In the Realm Of the Never fairies" by Monique Peterson and "The World Of Fairies: At the Dawn of Pixie Hollow" by Calliope Glass. Both are large hardcover books with about 140 pages each and are filled to the brim with colourful drawings and lively descriptions.

Each of these titles is a perfect book for reading to your daughter while she falls asleep but also to inspire her to create when she is awake. Numerous details only touched upon in the movies are examined in great detail and the colors literally leap into your imagination, begging you to grab your coloring pencils and draw!

If your daughter is ready to draw but is intimidated drawing by herself then try "The Fairies of Pixie Hollow : Super Stickerific" book which includes over 700 stickers and heaps of coloring and activity pages. Kids can use the stickers and include them in their own illustrations and there are a number of doubles so they won't be concerned about using favourites.

For children who like to listen to tapes you can try the Tinker Bell Read along CD and book set or for older girls, the audio books of Gail Carson Levine's wonderful Fairy Haven trilogy which features the main characters in the movies as well as more fairies in Pixie Hollow.

These are just a few of the wonderful resources available to help bring the feeling of Pixie Hollow back home and ignite a young girl's imagination.
