Yeast infections are unpleasant to say the least. They are the result of the Candida fungus that normally lives in the vagina but in very small amounts. When too many yeast cells are growing in the vagina an infection occurs. This condition is quite common among all women. And treatment is relatively simple.
Some women frequently get vaginitis and should seek medical attention. It is vital to keep the area clean. Underwear should be changed often. And all bedding should be changed and sterilized to avoid re-infection.
Vaginal infections are the result of new forms of yeast entering the vaginal area. This new yeast exceeds normal bacterial levels and causes itching and irritation. There are good bacteria and there are bad bacteria. When the bad bacterium outnumbers the good, vaginitis is the result.
This condition is not to be confused with sexually transmitted disease. Candida is a natural part of the female reproductive process. Women that have never had sex will still experience vaginitis. But is it possible for a woman to pass the infection on to a man resulting in an irritation on the skin of his penis.
This female condition causes itching or soreness in the vagina, and in some cases, pain or burning when urinating or have sex. A thick, odorless discharge, resembling cottage cheese makes this particular infection very uncomfortable. But there are treatment options available that immediately alleviate the condition.
This condition is normally treated with medicine that you apply directly into your vagina. This medicine may be a cream that you insert in your vagina with a special applicator, or it may be a suppository that you put into your vagina and allow to dissolve on its own. Medicine in a cream form can also be put on your vulva to help relieve itching. Pills are also available for more serious conditions.
Yeast infections are so common that every 3 out of 4 of women will have one in their lifetime. Half of all women have more than one infection in their lifetime. If you have these symptoms see your doctor. They will probably want to talk about your symptoms and examine you to make sure a yeast infection is the cause. It is important to note that woman sometimes misdiagnose their condition and may in fact be suffering from a more serious infection. If you are not sure, seek medical attention. On a positive note, these infections are normally easy to detect and easy to cure.
Yeast infections are, at the very least, uncomfortable. The itching and burning of symptoms can leave many women looking for instant relief from the irritation via a yeast infection remedy. A mouth yeast infection is particularly uncomfortable. For all the free information you'll need about yeast infections, please visit our website.
