During the entire year, visitors from all over the world come to Mendoza. Hotels, restaurants, wineries and beautiful landscapes combine to offer the most spectacular picture. The province of Mendoza is part of Cuyo region, and it is considered the land of good sunshine and good wine. As the highest peak of America, Mount Aconcagua is one of the most admired and fascinating touristic attractions this province has to offer. In addition, large vineyards cover the surface of the Cuyo region almost completely, providing the main ingredient for Mendoza’s most traditional product: the exquisite Malbec and other types of delicious wines. The history of Mendoza is also quite epic and emotive, as it is the place from where General San Martín began his heroic action to cross the Andean Mountain Range to fight for South America’s freedom.
The city of Mendoza is surrounded by the Andean Mountain Range and the Mendoza and Tunuyán Rivers. The water courses of this province had to be channeled in order to deliver water to the irrigation systems and nets designed for household use. The soil of Cuyo region is extremely arid. However, fields and vineyards are fertile and productive, due to the complex and extensive irrigation system which wets the ground constantly. That kind of meticulous care of the grape makes the wines so soft and delicate.
The city of Mendoza and its neighboring areas are suitable t visit any time of the year. The climate conditions are just fantastic, with mild temperatures and sunny days. In summer, the weather is quite hot during the day and fresh at night. Winter shows up with lower temperatures and gorgeous snowfalls. That is the beginning of the ski season. The typical weather of Mendoza is wonderful for outdoors activities and all kind of sports. The rivers and rapids in the region offer the most exiting scene to try rafting; kayaking or windsurfing. The giant mountains are perfect to practice rock climbing, mountaineering and trekking. .
Other enjoyable options are the sightseeing tours, which allow visitors to get to know a little more about Mendoza’s historical and cultural backgrounds. They involve visits to museums, parks and public building. The Route of Wine is another interesting alternative, especially for gourmets. This tour takes the guests of Mendoza’s Hotels to visit the most prestigious wineries in the region, so they can learn all about the winemaking process, and also indulge themselves in some incredible wine tasting.
