Anger management classes are sometimes ordered by courts. In most cases the order is usually because of some argument between two people that resulted in uncontrolled anger causing a problem for the those involved. Anger management classes are also usually given to people for small offenses or misdemeanor crimes like simple battery, or disturbing the peace.
Court ordered anger management are not the same as domestic violence classes. They are just about always the outcome of violence between a woman and a man, and it sometimes involves children. On the other hand, the court ordered anger class usually involves somebody lashing out, having let go of their temper and are destructive and violent toward someone or something else. Verbal arguments where authorities have to intervene, bar fights, or cases of destruction of property are all examples of this.
When a court ordered anger management class is used, the judge gives this assignment instead of ordering that a convict serve jail time for being guilty of the offense. In society this is a preferred idea. The reason is that being in prison does not teach a person what is needed for him to to cope better with his life in the future.
A quality anger management class is going to teach skills in empathy, emotional awareness, having good judgment, forgiveness, assertive communication, and on and on to make sure that your anger does not get the better part of you. A good court ordered anger management course would also require the participant to understand what is being taught under a structured curriculum and model.
