  1. Have the proper Meta tags on each page of your website. Each page should only list what you have listed on that page, and shouldn't duplicate another page of your website.

Your Meta tags (Title, Description, & keywords) must reflect that.

  1. Make your site deep.. Lots of content.

  2. Make your site a useful place to come back to. Give people a reason why they should bookmark your site.

  3. Get your links on as many websites as possible. Make sure the websites pertain to your website. This raises your web site's link popularity. Search engines like that!

  4. Paid advertising:

In order for your advertising to be cost effective.. Try to figure out your conversion ratio. How many unique visitors your website has ever had. Then how many transactions you have ever had. If you find that you need 1,000 unique visitors on average to sell a $50 item.

Then you have an idea of the amount of traffic you need to make your site a success.

If you're paying $2 per click. Your going to be spending more money than your site can convert to a sale.

You have to keep it real.

If you keep track of your sign up ratio

Then you at least can gage the updates you make to your website to see if they're working.

(Have they helped your sign up ratio or not?)

  1. Add your link to everything you do.

Email signatures, business card, word of mouth, your answering machine, bumper stickers, fax covers, facebook and so on..

  1. Come up with a to do list. How many links you are going to add to other websites per day. Then Never stop. Update your site with something interactive. Get an opt in email program on your site to do a monthly newsletter.

Did you know that car dealers move the cars around in the lot on purpose?

Remember that a website is your on-line ID. If you don't update it. It doesn't seem like anything is happening there, and there is no reason for anyone to come back.
