You have recently accepted Christ into your heart and now you are about to embark on this next phase of your life. There are many misconceptions regarding what being a Christian is all about. I'm going to help clear up many of those misconceptions and give you some helpful tips for a great and healthy Christian lifestyle.

The Truth About Giving Things Up

One of the big misconceptions out there is that being a Christian means that you have to give up most of the things you enjoy in life. That couldn't be further from the the truth. The truth is that the key ingredient to being a Christian is not about what you have to give up. It is all about what you get.

As a Christian and a believer, you get to have an intimate relationship with God the father. He is there to be a counselor, friend, or anything else you need him to be. That is the absolute greatest benefit we have as Christians, our relationship with God.

Don't get me wrong, there are probably places God doesn't want you to go and things that God doesn't want you to do. However, don't let those thoughts be the focus of your Christianity. Focus on strengthening your relationship with God and everything else will fall into place.

God Loves You

The understanding of God's love for you is key. God has always loved you, even before you accepted Christ into your life. He will continue to love you, no matter what you say or do. Other people may lead you to believe that God will turn his back on you once you sin. That is not true at all. There may be times when he will not like your actions, but he will always have a never ending love for you. God will never turn his back on you.

Get Some Help

As you begin your new Christian life it is important that you understand that God does not intend for you to go through this journey alone. I highly recommend that you find someone to walk with you. You want someone who you can answer your questions and who will be willing to give you insight about life and a relationship with God. This person doesn't necessarily need to have the title of minister. Any committed believer in Christ will do.

First, pray and ask God for his guidance regarding this. Sometimes it may be difficult to hear God clearly. Look for someone who has had a relationship with God longer than you have. Also, look for someone who will be open and honest. We ALL have made mistakes in our lives. I suggest that you stay away from anyone who acts like they have lived a perfect life.

Conclusion

The life of a Christian is not meant to be dull, boring or restrictive. It is meant to be bold, exciting and fulfilling. God has given us the blueprint (the Holy Bible) for a great life full of health and prosperity. Choose how your are going to live your life. I pray that your new Christian life is great one.
