How to Define a Cheap Cruise

The words ‘cheap cruise' depend on the perspective of the person looking for one. For some it can be calculated in monetary terms - less than £50 per day, less than a week's salary - for others it can be the value they receive for their money.
The length of the cruise can also be a factor. A five-day cruise with a spacious outside cabin will probably be cheaper than a 10 day cruise holiday in a very small inside cabin, and some would consider the former better value than the latter. Whichever option is chosen they still offer incredible value for money.
Because of the accommodation differences, cheap cruises cannot be judged in the same way as a cheap package holiday in a popular resort. Unlike a hotel, accommodation is not standard, so the less you pay - the smaller your cabin is likely to be. If you don't plan to spend much time in your cabin this isn't a problem. The onboard facilities will be the same however much you pay.
A cruise holiday is an all-inclusive holiday, which should include meals, on board facilities such as a swimming pool, a theatre for live shows, a cinema, and at least one designated area for music and dancing. The standard and variety of things such as the live entertainment, or children's programmes will be reflected in the price you pay for your cruise. Of course if entertainment doesn't rate highly on your ‘holiday must' list then this may not represent a great problem for you.
Having said that, cruise holidays generate the lowest number of complaints regarding value for money in the whole of the UK holiday industry.
One thing to look out for when booking a cheap cruise is the added extras. Port charges and taxes should be included but sometimes are not, and these can boost the initial cost of your holiday. Cheap cruises can be found online as can late cruise deals, and represent good value for money, but the would-be passenger needs to check out all that's on offer.
Shore excursions are a major feature for most passengers on a cruise, and these are nearly always subject to an additional charge. Costs vary from company to company and the length and complexity of the excursion. A simple walking tour of the port or a short coach trip to a local tourist attraction can cost as little as £10 to £20 per person, but some cruise operators will offer jeep safaris, white water rafting, helicopter trips etc. which will obviously be more expensive. It's possible to check out what excursions are available and the cost prior to booking, and when working to a budget, book the shore trips you can afford before you embark on your chosen cruise.
Most of the major cruise companies offer cheap holidays. The best way to find these is to regularly check online as these cruise deals often have a time limit, so you'll need to book quickly to save money.
Jetline Cruise are fully bonded agents for all major cruise lines, and members of the Association of Cruise Experts (ACE). Our area of expertise is offering discounted cruise deals and cruise holidays, as the saying goes we sell cruise holidays cheaply not cheap cruise holidays.
